By day, Rose is saintly, serene, kind to man and beast, virtually spreading sweetness and light wherever she goes with a bloody great trowel.  By night, however – she is arrogant, vain, critical and generally full of shit, a right cow actually.  In this blog, she continues to fight the good fight against consistency, boredom, political correctness and especially facts  – and to stand up for the right of all women to have and enjoy multiple personalities (at least, in their dreams).

Oh, and she isn’t beautiful. That’s a line from Muriel’s Wedding.

If you want to talk to Rose or be on her Facebook page (go on, she doesn’t have nearly enough Friends!), you can email her at englishrose659@hotmail.com or befriend her on her Facebook page, Livinginfairyland.

  1. Glad I found your blog on the Listful Thinking blog comments! I totally share your mentality of wishing more people would celebrate their failures (aka – you should check out my “about” page…)

  2. The girl next door says:

Wow Rose, I like what I see.

Came here on the rebound from somewhere else. *wink*

  3. tennizzlle says:

    Hello there!
I just nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award.
I just realised you quoted Muriel’s Wedding above, which has made me like you even more! Yay!

    • Thank you very much! As to liking, ditto – I’m glad you recognised it. Great film, isn’t it! It’s my bedtime now and I don’t know what the OLBA is, but I am VERY flattered! I feel I should nominate people too, I’ve read so many good blogs, but I’m not quite that proficient yet..

  4. crubin says:

I have nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award, details of which can be found on my site: http://carrierubin.com/2012/02/13/the-liebster-who-inspiringly-straddled-the-sunshine/

As you can see from my rather tongue-in-cheek post, I completely understand if you choose not to participate. I only pass it on as a means of letting you know I really enjoy your blog!

    Have a great day!

Lovely “About” page. Makes mine seem lame in comparison ! And you have “multiple personalities” as well. 🙂 🙂 Awesome.

  12. whiteladyinthehood says:

    Well, you rock!

  13. azleader says:

Like you, I fought a great schizophrenic struggle between good and evil. I was constantly torn between right and wrong.

However, I’m proud to say I overcame it… I let evil win.

Went to click on your Facebook…it is not there…I am disappoint

  15. Ian Gardner says:

Farts, like most things to do with the rear end, are cause for laughter . . . . . haven’t worked out why, yet, Rose!
PhD eh? You won’t learn what’s in my writings at any Earthly university 🙂

  16. Ian Gardner says:

I have often pointed out, with reference to animals, that when a cow in the field farts all the others do not lift their heads and say, ‘WHO did that?’

  17. This looks like a really fun site, and with such a lovely banner pic. Thanks for checking out my blog.

I loved watching Muriel’s Wedding – it was SO choice. I recently sent a guy in the US a Kath n Kim video (cheap going, at my local vid store) & he LOVED it. True!! He said he hadn’t even bothered to watch the US version “because us Yanks are always remaking & commercialising) – but he loved the actual. If you want, visit ‘The Heretic’ ( I THINK he’s in my blog roll), & ask him to see his private vid on Vimeo about his reaction to Kath n Kim. I don’t know why he made it private, but anyways, it’s good to watch.

ANY hooooooo you had me at ‘Muriel’s Wedding’! Like your ‘about’. Didn’t imagine you sweet/not. And I’m glad you’re still ‘But I’m Beautiful’ – or maybe I’ve clicked an old link. Anyway, won’t drivel…

Harvard btw ? Excellent shit. Relationships…. hmm. Do you mind me saying, but I think my cat is angry at me….. ??

    ! 🙂

    • It was a great movie wasn’t it. Ok I’ll see if I can find The HEretic. I heard the US Kath and Kim was pretty woeful. Yes, still Butimbeautiful. I haven’t really been anywhere near Harvard, sadly. But hey – I can give crappy advice as well as the next blogger! Sorry to hear your cat is annoyed – dinner time perhaps?

  28. I love your blog. I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award and linked to your blog. http://www.mysticcircle.wordpress.com/2012/06/16/versatile-blogger-award

    • thank you very much, that is so kind of you! I’ll link back to yours – it just sometimes takes me a while to do the needed things! But very soon!! And thanks again.

  29. An animal loving, multiple personality basket-case. Great! I get the feeling I’m going to enjoy following your site.

  30. I have nominated you for the Sunshine Award. Thank you for following me. You do not need to accept it if you do not want to, but if you don’t, know how much I appreciate your support. If you do want to accept it go to this page to see what you have to do.(http://wp.me/p2eEip-uh) Thanks again!

  31. SunshineMac says:

Love your blog, wish I too could just be my true self. I have haters who scrutinise my blog and pounce on anything they want to twist to cause more family division and strife on the in law side. They mean shit to me but my hubby doesn’t. Wouldn’t be surprised if this comment made it to an email and a phone call followed.

    • REally? that’s awful. I’d hate it if everything on my blog was scrutinised (actually maybe it is, my ex boyfriend and sisters all read my blog). And that fact does make a little careful about some things. There’s not a lot of point having a blog that you can’t be honest on. Have you thought about something password protected? At least for some posts.

  32. Melody says:

Thanks for visiting as you led me back here! Your writing is incredibly funny, Rose. I will be back especially when I need a mean dose of humor!

    Hi Rose (BIB),
You recently visited my site (thank you) and liked one of my posts (thank you, again). It was the one reviewing the Stingray TV series. Believe it or not, that post, which is now about 15 months old is my most popular (viewed) post, but you are the first to “like” it. I’m just curious what drew you to it? This is pure serendipity and curiosity on my part…

    • I thought it was a well written review. It’s not my kind of show – although there was something similar a couple of years back which I watched religiously – about a guy who hires out his services mainly in Miami, and has a very handy girlfriend.

    • The other reason was that I happened to light on it. Sometimes I try to follow your comments back to your blog and because it’s not listed (only your email) I can’t. But this time – I could!

      • kmabarrett says:

Hmm, I’m not sure what you mean. If you hover over my “gravatar”, you should see my site address. If you click on the gravatar, you should see the link to my blog under the picture. I assume your reply means it doesn’t show up in your browser… Interesting.

      • Usually the blog address comes up under the comment, but with yours, only the link to the gravatar comes up, and that..from memory – doesn’t have a link to the blog. But I could be wrong.

      • kmabarrett says:

What do you see when you actually click on the Gravatar?

      • ARIN, and then a page about the American Registry for Internet Numbers..?

  46. julespaige says:

Thanks for your visit. Yep, farts are fun. But I won’t ask you to pull my finger.
I like to play with words. The shorts or daily pieces, well anything I write runs the gambit. 🙂

  47. Pull your finger? I wouldn’t dream of it!

  48. great minds think alike! As a million people have said before!

  49. Hey there beauty,
Just stopped by to say glad I found you, liked your fb page (I’m the one with all the dogs), and enjoy your site. I love the backdrop to this page, some of my fav colors (& Monet 🙂 ) Paulette

  50. Hi Rose, thanks for reading my story. There are others on my blog. I try to post as frequently as I can. Although lately I have been concentrating on my novel, so haven’t put much short fiction on the blog.

    • That’s the way it goes. If you’re writing a novel you can’t really write other stuff AND have a life! I enjoyed your stories though!

    Congratulations, Rose!

I have nominated your blog for the Blogger Recognition Award.

More about this nomination is at

  70. You recently had the misfortune of having a sincere well-thought out comment to a blogger called One Reasonablel Person” thrown back in your face by this soul-less poseur, I too, have also had to deal with this person’s tortured logic on my blog in defense of my attack on Donald Trump. Here is what I just put on his site in response to what he wrote to you
Butimbeautiful. you are dealing here with someone who fancies him/herself as “reasonable” when, in fact, they are semantic cowards who cannot take a position and, under the pretext of being”reasonable,” will continue to refuse to call a spade a spade.while turning verbal somersaults to hide what is patently obvious. This “reasonable” person is themselves probably one of those “easily manipulated, racist, and stupid” people who will defend a fraud like Trump while being too cowardly to come right out and admit same. I have repeatedly asked this “reasonable” person whether or not they are voting for Trump and the question has gone unanswered. Someone like this “reasonable” person would have doubtlessly pleaded for equanimity and “reason” in the face of Hitler’s slaughter of 6 million Jews and Gypsies and would have derided any criticism of this as “unreasonable.” By this warped logic this “reasonable” person would consider attacking Mussolini and the Fascist Brownshirts as “being disrespectful to these people.”.This “reasonable” person – whose second-grade verbal trick is to turn your well thought out and “reasonably” expressed thoughts and words back on you – is to be laughed at. The word “smug” comes quickly to mind.

  71. Thanks for sticking up for me, Barking! Fact is I don’t notice when people bite back, as a rule – I’m just not dedicated enough as a blogger. Anyone who thinks Trump has something going for him is seriously deluded so their opinion is of minimal interest to me – but thank you for taking this trouble to defend me, I appreciate it!

  72. Soul Gifts says:

I like 🙂 Came over for a peek when I saw your turnipsforbreakfast ‘like’ on one of my posts. Just HAD to come and have a look what sort of person eats turnips for breakfast 🙂 Now I understand, I think …
